PBA commissioner Willie Marcial bared he had a meeting with Calvin Abueva following the completion of the requirements set for the lifting of the indefinite suspension on the controversial Phoenix star.
Marcial said he spoke with Abueva last Thursday. Although he declined to reveal the details of the meeting, Marcial described it as a positive one.
“Nag-usap na kami ni Calvin last Thursday,” said Marcial during Tuesday’s Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum. “Magkausap kami, nagkamustahan, maganda ang kuwentuhan at lahat.”
Abueva bared during a recent interview on Sports Page on Cignal TV that he has finished all the tasks required of him after he was suspended indefinitely for a clothesline on TNT import Terrence Jones and lewd gestures directed at Bobby Ray Parks' girlfriend.
Among the requirements were a series of drug and psychological tests as well as community service.

Despite the completion of Abueva’s requirements, Marcial admitted there is still a process to be undertaken before the suspension is finally lifted. Abueva completely understood this, the commissioner aded.
“Sinasabi ko sa kanya, ‘Calvin, may proseso pang gagawin.’ Pero ang maganda, nagka-usap kami, naintindihan niya ako, naiintindihan ko siya. Maganda ito,” said Marcial.
“Hindi ko puwedeng isiwalat sa inyo kung paano [pero] para [ito] sa proteksyon at ikabubuti ng lahat,” the PBA commissioner added.
Although he offered no timetable for the lifting of a ban that has now stretched to 14 months - the longest in the league's history, Marcial bared he is already seeing improvements in Abueva.
“Sa akin, pa-ganun na,” said Marcial, doing an upward trend gesture to stress his point. “May improvement si Calvin.”
