ANTIPOLO – Marc Pingris surprised not a few people when he showed up for Game Three of the PBA Governors’ Cup finals at the Ynares Center in his Sunday best.
Pingris has been a constant presence on the Magnolia bench as the team's top cheerleaer despite being saddled by an ACL injury that ended his season.
But Sunday was different as Pingris looked dapper in coat and slacks while cheering from the sidelines in Game Three of the Magnolia-Alaska finale.
There was a big reason why Pingris was wearing a coat as he confirmed that he attended a wedding of a longtime fan where he and his wife Danica Sotto stood as godparents.
"Since 2006 andiyan na siya at sumusuporta. Siya yung nag-organized ng 'Tropang Pingris.' So mahigit isang dekada na rin yun," he said after the game.
Owing to lack of time, Pingris and Danica headed straight to Antipolo from the church ceremony.
"Hindi na nga kami pumunta ng reception para makahabol sa game," he said
The night, however, ended with the Hotshots losing 100-71. They still lead, 2-1, in the best-of-seven series.
