IT was a such touching scene seeing bosom buddies James Yap and Marc Pingris in a tight hug shortly after Magnolia advanced to the PBA Philippine Cup finals at the expense of Rain or Shine on Sunday night.

Despite the Hotshots booting out the Elasto Painters in the lowest-scoring Game 7 in playoffs history, Pingris has nothing but encouraging words for his former teammate.

Yap savored a resurgence with Rain or Shine this season, rediscovering the shooting touch that made him a two-time MVP while still with the Purefoods franchise.

He’s been credited for steering the Elasto Painters to the No. 2 seed going to the playoffs.

“Ang ganda kasi ng pinakita niya rito,” added Simon, who was once part of the Star Hotshots’ Big Three along with Yap and Pingris.

As a parting word, Simon also didn’t miss telling Yap about his coming wedding.

“Ini-invite ko na rin siya sa kasal ko,” he added.
