MARC Pingris admitted the departure of Allein Maliksi is a huge loss despite Star’s offense remaining potent in the 109-83 win over Globalport on Friday night in the absence of the streak shooter who was traded to Blackwater last week.

Asked if Maliksi is a big loss or the Hotshots can make up for his absence, Pingris balanced out the situation as he expects trade recipients Kyle Pascual and Bambam Gamalinda, as well as the other Hotshots locals to compensate for his absence.

“Parehas lang naman: malaking kawalan, pero kailangan namin mag-adjust,” Pingris said after their blowout win over the Batang Pier.

Pingris said Hotshots coach and former pro Chito Victolero gave them a talk about the uncertainties of being a PBA player.

Pingris, himself, is no stranger to getting traded, as he was traded in the 2007-08 season from Purefoods to Magnolia where he spent a season and a half, before finding himself back with the Purefoods franchise.

Pingris, though, believes Maliksi can grow more as a player – as well as build new friendships at Blackwater.

“Alam ko rin naman na makukuha rin niya yung playing time niya sa Blackwater, yung pakikisama niya sa ibang player dun,” Pingris said.
