Helpless Marc Pingris laments a Magnolia defense that's full of holes

    Jun 6, 2018
Aside from cheering, Marc Pingris couldn't do anything else from the bench where he witnessed the Hotshots get stung by the Elite.

EVEN Marc Pingris knows that Magnolia is way much better than the team that came out to play against Blackwater on Wednesday.

“Hindi kami 'yun. Hindi ko masasabi na yun kami kanina,” he said, shaking his head after the Hotshots’ humiliating 86-84 defeat at the hands of the erstwhile-winless Elite in the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup.

Watching from the sidelines as he continues his recovery from an ACL injury, the veteran forward from Pozorrubio, Pangasinan felt helpless as his squad fell to a second straight loss.

Pingris has been in the league and in this team long enough to know what the squad is doing wrong.

“Depensa talaga. Sobrang daming lapses.

Kaillangan mag-usap kayo.”

Despite the Hotshots falling to an even 3-3 record in the standings, Pingris isn’t losing hope that his team can learn from this bummer of a loss and bounce back stronger.

That self-belief might exactly be what Magnolia needs as it takes on a grinder of a schedule where it plays three games in eight days, with Alaska, TNT, and Ginebra up next in its cupboard.

“Malayo pa. Kayang kaya pa yan,” said Pingris.
