MARC Pingris played down a tense moment between him and Calvin Abueva in the first half of Game Two of the PBA Governors’ Cup semifinal series between Star and Alaska on Friday night.

Abueva decked Pingris as they were jockeying for position in a play that resulted in an offensive foul for the Star forward in the second quarter of the game which Alaska won, 95-74.

The Aces forward, in a rare friendly gesture, offered his hand, but his Hotshots counterpart vehemently refused it.

But Pingris was quick to dismiss the incident later.

“Ah wala 'yun, laro lang naman eh,” Pingris said, adding he was not surprised that Abueva offered his hand to an opponent.

“Kilala niyo naman si Calvin na parang sa laro ganun lang siya, pero mabait naman siya sa labas eh,” the Hotshots star said. “Ganun lang naman kaming mga player. Syempre trabaho rin 'yan. Professional din kami. Uunahin din namin pamilya namin, pero pag sa labas, magkakaibigan kami.”

Pingris, though, admitted he had no intention to take Abeuva’s hand.

“Ayaw ko,” he said with a smile.

Abueva also didn’t mind that Pingris snubbed his gesture.

“Na-ano ka sa’kin, sa akin tulungan kita. Pero yung ginawa niya, wala naman akong ano ‘dun eh,” the Aces workhorse said. “Positioning lang talaga. Nasa court, ‘di ba?”
