MARC Pingris said he is still hurting from a bruised rib despite a gallant performance in Game Two of San Mig Coffee’s PBA Commissioner’s Cup quarterfinal series against Alaska.
A hurting Pingris scored 17 points and hauled 12 rebounds as the Mixers beat the Aces, 70-65, in Game Two to keep their bid for a third straight PBA title alive.
Despite his play, however, the many-time All-Defensive team member bared he has not fully recovered from the injury he sustained in a game against San Miguel Beer.
“Hindi siya hundred percent. Masakit pa rin,” said Pingris, in an interview after the media launch of the Master GameFace Challenge where he will face up against Team Chris Tiu on June 21.
“Mga 45 to 50 percent,” said Pingris, when asked about his recovery.
Pingris said he will definitely play in Game Three as the Mixers try to complete a comeback from their Game One loss in the deciding quarterfinal match set Saturday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
“Every game, naglalagay ako ng dalawang pads na parang armor. Alam mo naman tayo, puso tayo maglaro. Kung kaya talaga, maglalaro ako. Minsan lang itong ganitong opportunity,” said Pingris.
Pingris said he expects a physical encounter in Game Three, the winner of which will face either San Miguel Beer or Air21 in the semifinals.
“Part of the game naman ‘yun. Basta tayo naka-focus lang sa laro. Kapag pinisikal kami, hindi kami puwedeng mawala sa focus,” said Pingris.
