WHO needs Floyd Mayweather Jr. now?

Not Manny Pacquiao, who just scored the most celebrated point by any rookie in the 40-year history of the PBA on the way to guiding the Carnivals of KIA Motors to the biggest upset in league history - a 95-84 win over defending champion Purefoods at a jampacked Araneta Coliseum.

A dumb-founded Tim Cone, the winningest coach in league history, didn't know what hit him and his team.

That single point by Pacquiao and his electrifying presence brought back memories of the great days of the old PBA when a legendary player-coach by the name of Robert Jaworksi led perennial underdogs Ginebra San Miguel to unforgettable victories which are now a part of PBA folklore.

WIth this awe-inspiring victory to be forever etched in the annals of Asia's first play-for-pay basketball league, it is now our prayer that we see more of Pacquiao and the Carnivals of Kia in the circus known as the PBA.

While the whole world awaits the long-overdue signing of 'Pretty Boy' Floyd of their purported fight contract, the eight-division world champion can while away the time by continuing his giant-killing ways in the pro league.

Who knows? Pacquiao and his Carnival just might score the mother of all knockouts and go all the way to the finals of the Fiesta Cup, er, the Commissioner's Cup.

After all this is the PBA circus - where anything is possible!
