MANNY Pacquiao will try to inspire a skidding Mahindra as the boxing icon is set to show up for the team's PBA Commissioner's Cup game against unbeaten San Miguel at the Astrdome on Wednesday.
The 38-year-old senator is set to call the shots for the Floodbuster in the 4:30 p.m. match, marking the first time the team's officially listed playing-coach will be attending a Mahindra game this season.
But Pacquiao will not be suiting for the team as he'll just give out instructions from the bench side by side with top deputy Chris Gavina.
"He's just going to coach," according to assistant team manager Jo Ramos.
The boxing icon's return to the Mahindra bench comes just days after sources revealed to SPIN.ph that Pacquiao is mulling over a offer to move to Blackwater.
Blackwater owner Dioceldo Sy has confirmed asking Pacquiao about the possibility, although the senator has since kept mum about the matter.
This will be the first public appearance for the boxing superstar since signing the contract for his July 2 fight against Jeff Horn in Australia.
Training camp has yet to begin for the Horn fight, although the reigning International Boxing Federation (IBF) welterweight champion already began doing road work two weeks ago.
The Floodbusters have lost three in a row and are currently tied with Blackwater for 10th to 11th place with similar 1-5 records.
They remain very much in the running for a quarterfinals berth, although they will need to string up victories in their remaining five games.
The Beermen however, could be a tough customer for the Floodbuster as they remain as the only unbeaten team three games into their campaihm in the midseason conference.
