GIAN Mamuyac scored 22 points as Rain or Shine crashed into the win column with a 113-96 victory over NorthPort on Wednesday in the PBA Philippine Cup at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Mamuyac already had 18 markers in the first half to set the tone for the Elasto Painters on their way to victory and improve their mark to 1-1 after its defeat in the conference opener against NLEX last Saturday.
Rain or Shine now shares the same win-loss record as NorthPort, which stumbled in the game with its top player Arvin Tolentino out due to a right hip flexor.

“Malaking bagay na wala si Arvin. We prepared for Arvin to play today. It’s just a lucky break na hindi siya nakapaglaro. We feel na kapag naglaro siya, mag-iiba ang complexion ng laro talaga,” said Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao.
Despite lacking in ceiling with Beau Belga out due to vertigo and Keith Datu sidelined due to a strained calf, Rain or Shine still dominated the boards with 66 rebounds – 27 on the offensive end.
“Napakalaking bagay din ‘yung offensive rebounding. We were missing shots that were open that I felt we could have made especially those open threes but what saved the day for us was our offensive rebounding. I think this is the first time we got that much number of offensive rebounds,” Guiao added.
Santi Santillan had 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Andrei Caracut and Caelan Tiongson added 15 points apiece for the Elasto Painters.
William Navarro poured in 22 points and 12 rebounds, as Joshua Munzon had 14 points, five rebounds, and seven assists for the Batang Pier.
