PHOENIX was quick to activate new acquisition Gian Mamuyac, who makes his debut as a Fuel Master on Sunday against no less than Barangay Ginebra.
Acquired in a trade with Rain or Shine on Thursday, the 27-year-old guard joins his new team in the 7:30 p.m. main game, fresh from a fast 2-0 start in the PBA 50th Season-ending Governors’ Cup.
The Fuel Masters upended Meralco, 98-97, on Wednesday before pushing the trade button the following day to acquire Mamuyac and a Season 53 second round pick in exchange for a first round pick in the same draft.
At Phoenix, Mamuyac will be reunited with former Ateneo backcourt partner Tyler Tio.
'Blur' online for TNT
Also activating several of its players from the reserved list is injury-plagued TNT.
Longtime captain Jayson Castro returned to the active roster, as the defending and reigning champion makes its debut against Macau at 5:15 p.m. at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
The 40-year-old guard was previously in the injury/reserved list prior to the start of the conference, as he continued to nurse a left sprained ankle he sustained in Game 6 of the Commissioner’s Cup finals against the Gin Kings.
Also activated by the Tropang 5G for the start of their title defense are Paul Varilla, Tyrus Hill, and rookie big man Joe Celzo.
Varilla will take the place of Mike Nieto, while Celzo and replace veterans Kelly Williams and Poy Erram.
Both Nieto and Williams were relegated to the Unrestricted Free Agent list (with rights to salary), while Erram was placed in the injured/reserved list.
