BOCAUE – A mammoth crowd of 36,445 fans trooped to the Philippine Arena to watch Game Five of the PBA Governors Cup finals between Ginebra and Meralco on Sunday night.

The official attendance, announced during the third quarter of the match, was the second most to watch a game in league history - right behind the record 52,612 fans who attended the 2014 season opener that featured a game between Ginebra and TNT.

However, the attendance was hands-down the biggest to watch a PBA game this season - and the biggest to watch a finals game since 23,436 fans watched Game 3 of the Ginebra-Alaska title series in the 2013 Commissioner's Cup.

Some fans have lined up very early at the Bulacan venue to get choice seats for the 7 p.m. match while some were still queuing up just minutes before the opening tip-off.

Some fans coming from Manila availed of the free rides the league offered through JAM Liner terminals in Buendia and Cubao.
