    MAHINDRA’s loss is Blackwater’s gain.

Former Mahindra guard Mike Digregorio has been a gem so far in his first two games in this PBA Commissioner’s Cup after Blackwater picked up him from the free-agent market in the offseason.

After scoring 13 points in his debut last Saturday, to promising sophomore shooting guard chipped in eight points in 21 minutes off the bench although he had to take 10 shots to reach his total in the 109-95 loss to Alaska on Wednesday night.

DiGregorio feels he has made a good first impression on the Elite.

“I hope so, yeah,” the Filipino-Italian guard said. “I know my role on the team, so it’s just making the right decisions, being aggressive on offense, playing off of the import.

"We know in the import conferences, they’re the ones that dominate the ball,” he added, referring to Greg Smith.

Asked how he feels about Mahindra dropping him in the offseason, DiGregorio initially declined to comment before hinting he was surprised by the move.

“After the conference ended, I went home to the States for about ten days, and they put me on the unrestricted list, so Blackwater contacted my agent and picked me up,” the 26-year-old cager said.

And DiGregorio, whose current contract runs until the end of the season, is making the most of his stint with the Elite.

“I like Blackwater a lot,” he said. “I’ve been here for a month now and all the coaches, teammates, management, they’ve all been welcoming to me. I try to catch up to speed on what they want to do in their system, so hopefully I’m learning.”
