    Magnolia adds to TNT woes to enter playoffs on a high after Davao game

    Hotshots derail KaTropa twice-to-beat bid

    MAGNOLIA frustrated twice-to-beat-seeking TNT, 100-93, on Saturday to end the elimination round of the PBA Governors’ Cup on a high note.

    The Hotshots finished the eliminations with a 6-5 win-loss record to enter the quarterfinals with a win in their Petron Saturday Special game held at the USEP Gym in Davao. Magnolia also formalized its seeding as the Hotshots took the sixth spot in the playoffs.

    The loss dropped TNT’s record to 7-3 after suffering their third straight defeat. The struggling KaTropa will have to win against Grand Slam-seeking San Miguel on Wednesday to clinch the twice-to-beat advantage.

    Romeo Travis had 21 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Hotshots to the wire-to-wire win. Magnolia led by as many as 23 points in the match after Travis scored a three-point play with 7:27 in the fourth to take a 92-69.

    Chris Banchero and Paul Lee each had 13 points for Magnolia in the victory.

    KJ McDaniels had a team-high 33 points and 15 rebounds, and Bobby Ray Parks added 21 points, eight rebounds, and five assists for TNT.

    Magnolia 100 – Travis 21, Banchero 13, Lee 13, Barroca 9, Jalalon 9, Ramos 8, Reavis 7, Pingris 6, Dela Rosa 6, Sangalang 5, Simon 3, Abundo 0.

    TNT 93 – McDaniels 33, Parks 21, Pogoy 13, Vosotros 7, Rosario 6, Reyes 4, DiGregorio 3, De Leon 2, Williams 2, Washington 2, Semerad 0, Magat 0, Taha 0.

    Quarterscores: 27-22; 56-41; 79-62; 100-93.
