MAGNOLIA Pambansang Manok believes new import Curtis Kelly has finally settled with the team and more than ready to play in his PBA Commissioner’s Cup debut Saturday against Rain or Shine.
The 30-year-old Kelly arrived in the country just last Monday and managed to practice with the team the last four days.
“I think kahit papaano naka-kaadjust na siya sa system namin,” said coach Chito Victolero of the import, who will be taking over the spot left by Vernon Macklin.
Like any first time import playing in the country, Kelly has one major complaint though.
“He just needs to adjust lang doon sa weather. Sometimes nag complain siya sa heat,” said Victolero.
Kelly will not only have to contend with the weather when he plays his first game at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, but also against the league-leading Elasto Painters who parade a burly import in Reggie Johnson.
Rain or Shine is currently on a two-game winning run, including a 123-119 beating of defending champion San Miguel to share the lead with TnT Katropa.
But Magnolia is also on a roll, having won three in a row after losing its first game against Phoenix.
The Hotshots did it though, with Macklin still around to average 21.0 points and 13.3 rebounds before the import took his act to China.
