Magnolia eyes first win, Meralco looks to get back on track as PBA goes to CdO

    Mar 2, 2019

MAGNOLIA guns for its first win of the PBA Philippine Cup when it goes up against Meralco on Saturday at the Xavier University gym in Cagayan De Oro City.

The Petron Saturday Special match-up is set at 5 p.m.

The Hotshots have not posted a single victory in their three matches to occupy the cellar in the standings. Magnolia dropped a 75-74 loss to Rain or Shine last February 13 to go 0-3 to start off the conference following their conquest of the Governors’ Cup last year.

Ian Sangalang has been leading the way for Magnolia with an average of 16.67 points, but his efforts have yet to lead to a victory this conference.

It will be a homecoming for Magnolia point guard Jio Jalalon, who was born in Cagayan De Oro.

Meralco, meanwhile, has also struggled this conference, having lost their second straight game to drop to a 2-4 card. The Bolts, who are in 10th place in the team standings, were nipped by Columbian, 86-85, last Wednesday.
