The new direction is another innovation undertaken under new head coach LA Tenorio by a Magnolia side that is eager to put together a strong performance in the PBA's 50th season following playoff disappointments in past years.
The Hotshots last tasted a championship during the 2018 Governors’ Cup under former head coach Chito Victolero when they defeated Alaska with a team reinforced by import Romeo Travis.

Since then, Magnolia reached the finals thrice, only to lose each time.
“Gusto namin to get over the hump. Medyo matagal-tagal na. That’s the goal. But again, this is not a sprint. This is a marathon. Unti-unti. One step at a time,” said Tenorio.
