Murphy the X-factor in Clasico rematch between Magnolia, Ginebra

Ginebra will need more from Murphy if it hopes to make the playoffs

THE second installment of the Manila Clasico in the PBA 50th Season Governors’ Cup will happen on Sunday at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.

Magnolia will look to sweep its elimination-round series against Barangay Ginebra after winning the first round encounter, 88-73, last August 2.

When: Sunday, October 11. 5:15 p.m.

Where: Smart-Araneta Coliseum

Converge resumes campaign

Converge plays its first game in the resumption of the conference on Sunday as it goes up against Titan Ultra. The FiberXers entered the break on a two-game winning streak and they are out to extend it in Sunday’s game.

The FiberXers saw TNT surpass them in the team standings following two wins this week, and they will look to join the Tropang 5G in a share of third place in the Group A standings.

Titan Ultra looks to stay alive

With a 2-7 win-loss record, Titan Ultra needs a victory to keep its playoff hopes alive. The Giant Risers are at a disadvantage, having lost to the FiberXers, 105-74, last July 12.

When: Sunday, October 11. 7:30 p.m.

Where: Smart-Araneta Coliseum

Extend win streak

Magnolia enters its match-up against rival Ginebra with a 5-3 win-loss record and rding a four-game winning streak. The Hotshots aim to maintain first place in Group A.

Jerom on a roll

Jerom Lastimosa continued his scoring brilliance after tallying 24 points in Magnolia’s 107-101 win over Blackwater. He has now averaged 27 points over the last two games.

    Excellent debut for Murphy

    Jordan Murphy made an outstanding debut for Ginebra with across-the-board numbers of 30 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists, and four blocks in their 129-111 win over Rain or Shine. Murphy will look to sustain his play against KJ Buffen.

    Gins look to rise

    Ginebra's win against Rain or Shine brought it up to a share of fourth place with Blackwater in Group B with a 3-4 win-loss record. A win will put the Kings in solo fourth and very much in contention for a quarterfinal berth after being at the bottom of the standings at the resumption of the conference.
