SHABAZZ Muhammad didn’t play in his scheduled return game in the PBA on Saturday as the new Magnolia import apparently hasn’t secured a clearance from FIBA to play in the Hotshots' game against Meralco.
PBA commissioner Willie Marcial confirmed the development.
Muhammad made the trip to Panabo City, Davao Del Norte for the PBA Governors’ Cup out-of-town game, and was in uniform against the Bolts, but the absence of a FIBA Letter of Clearance (LOC) prevented him from playing in the contest.
Muhammad’s situation isn’t new in the PBA, with Greg Smith of Rain or Shine being the last import with a similar case last year.
Magnolia though was no longer allowed to re-activate Glenn Robinson III as he was already relegated to the injured/reserve list to elevate Muhammad in the roster on the eve of the game, forcing the Hotshots to play without an import.
