ANTIPOLO – A minimal fine awaits Magnolia deputy coach Johnny Abarrientos for making an obscene gesture on Converge import Jamaal Franklin in the final minute of their highly-physical PBA Governors Cup game at the Ynares Center.
Commissioner Willie Marcial said he tried calling the PBA legend shortly after the game when photos of Abarrientos sticking out a dirty finger on Franklin went viral on social media on Sunday night.
The FiberExers won the game, 111-109.
The incident happened after Franklin hit a dagger three-pointer as the shot clock was winding down, giving the FiberXers a 111-105 lead with 1:04 to play.
Marcial said Abarrientos has yet to respond to his call.
“May fine yun,” said the commissioner. “Under ng rule book kasi, may minimal fine yung ganun.”
Marcial said he’ll reach out to Abarrientos again and talk to him about the misdemeanor.
