MACMAC Cardona heralds his PBA return after a year of absence he suits up for Globalport on Sunday against NLEX in the Governors Cup.
The Batang Pier listed Cardona in their active roster on Saturday, exactly 24 hours before the team's 4:15 p.m. game against the Road Warriors at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Globalport management confirmed to spin.ph the move to include Cardona to its 14-man roster.
"Yes he will play. Hinahabol na yung uniform niya for the game," said team manager Bonnie Tan.
It will be the first game for Cardona in the PBA since last year, when he made a suicide attempt that was highly-publicized.He failed to get a renewal contract from former team NLEX following the incident.
Ironically, he'll be up against the Road Warriors in his first game with the Batang Pier, where he is reunited with college coach Franz Pumaren and teammates Ryan Arana and Mike Cortez.
Pumaren said the 35-year-old Cardona, a former Finals MVP, is definitely a big addition to a Globalport side that ia very much in the running for a berth in the quarterfinals.
"His return is very timely because we need additional help from the bench," said Pumaren of his former go-to-guy at La Salle.
Globalport is coming off a 119-112 win over TnT Katropa on Friday at the Ynares Center in Antipolo and holds a 3-3 mark.
