ANTIPOLO – Zavier Lucero missed out on Magnolia’s do-or-die game against Rain or Shine Saturday for a berth in the semifinals of the PBA Governors Cup.
The sophomore big man appeared to have not recovered yet from the concussion he suffered in the same venue at the Ynares Center during Game 3 of the quarterfinals last week.
Lucero was in street clothes and cheering the Hotshots from the bench for the second straight game.
Rookie big man Caelan Tiongson was also not in uniform for Rain or Shine, levelling the field in terms of manpower between the two teams.
Lucero also sat out Game 4 last Tuesday which Magnolia won, 129-100, to forge the sudden-death.

“Concussion protocol,” said coach Chito Victolero of Lucero’s absence the last time.
The first round pick in last year’s draft banged his face on the floor while chasing a loose ball in Game 3, leaving him wearing a huge bandage just above his right eye for the rest of the contest.
Winner of the do-or-die match will meet top seed TNT in the semifinals, a best-of-seven series which begins on Wednesday.
