PHOENIX Pulse coach Louie Alas defended his players from accusations of dirty play, saying the Fuel Masters are only trying to play physical basketball against the four-time defending champion.
Alas used Twitter to defend Doug Kramer, Justin Chua and Dave Marcelo, who have been accused by fans of dirty tactics particularly against June Mar Fajardo in Game Two of the Philippine Cup semifinals on Monday.
Fajardo said he just tries not to lose his cool.
“Nagtitimpi lang ako,” Fajardo told reporters on Monday.
The Fuel Masters lost, 92-82, to the Beermen to trail 0-2 in the best-of-seven series.
“Walang record si Doug Kramer, Justin Chua, Dave Marcelo na dirty player sila. It’s true physical sila. The truth is maraming masakit sa kanila," said Alas on Tuesday..
Alas said it is his players who have been on the receiving end of physical plays. The veteran coach said he is not complaining, and he lauds the players for being able to take hits and play on.
“Tama ng siko, balikat, etc. We are not complaining. That’s part of it and willing siya i-sacrifice ang body nila para makadepensa,” said Alas.
