    Louie Alas, Caloy Garcia formally clinch coaching jobs in PBA All-Star game

    LOUIE Alas and Caloy Garcia get to coach in their first-ever PBA All-Star game this year in Calasiao, Pangasinan.

    The two clinched the coaching jobs after Phoenix and Rain or Shine emerged as the top two teams in the Philippine Cup.

    Despite absorbing a 100-97 loss to Barangay Ginebra Sunday night, the Fuel Masters kept the solo lead in the standings with an 8-2 record.

    The Elasto Painters meanwhile, also maintained solo second place at 7-3 even after losing back-to-back games in their last two outings.

      The PBA decided to pick the two coaches who will call the shots for the North and South All-Stars based on the top two teams in the standings at the end of the March 10 cut-off date.

      This will be the first time Alas and Garcia will be coaching full-time in the annual festivities.

      With Phoenix emerging as the top team in the eliminations, Alas is going to call the shots for the North All-Stars.

      Garcia meanwhile, will be at the helm of the South All-Stars.

      Comprising Alas’ North squad are Calvin Abueva, Japeth Aguilar, LA Tenorio, Paul Lee, Marcio Lassiter, Stanley Pringle, Alex Cabagnot, Arwind Santos, Gabe Norwood, Jayson Castro, Troy Rosario, Chris Banchero, Mark Caguioa, Jayson Perkins, and Mark Pingris (injured).

      Also part of the team are legends Benjie Paras and Ronnie Magsanoc.

      Garcia’s South team meanwhile is composed of June Mar Fajardo, James Yap, Scottie Thompson, Greg Slaughter, Mark Barroca, Chris Ross, Baser Amer, Terrence Romeo, John Paul Erram, PJ Simon, Joe Devance, Jio Jalalon, Roger Pogoy, and Mac Belo.

      Legend players joining the South team are Alvin Patrimonio and Jerry Codinera.
