JULIAN Sargent joins Jervy Cruz on the sidelines for Barangay Ginebra in the PBA Governors Cup as the rookie guard is set to undergo surgery for his injured shoulder.
Sargent announced the bad news himself on Friday on Twitter, apologizing to the Ginebra organization and the team's for his prolonged absence since the one-on-one trade with Paolo Taha that brought him in from NorthPort last June.
The freshman out of La Salle has undergone PRP for his injured shoulder, but has been told that the only option now for it to fully recover is through operation.
"Unfortunately my official Ginebra debut has been on hold," wrote Sargent. "After many opinions, surgery is what's best for my career."
Sargent and Cruz, who also went under the knife recently to remove bone spurs on his foot, are both out indefinitely as the Kings begin their quest for a third straight championship in the season-ending conference.
"Sorry to my teammates, coaches, and fans. I promise I'll come back stronger," added Sargent in a tweet he punctuated with the hashtag #NSD.
