GABE Norwood felt Rain or Shine failed to focus on the `little things’ that could have saved the team from absorbing yet another loss at the hands of Talk `N Text.
On Wednesday night, the Elasto Painters suffered a sixth straight loss against the Tropang Texters this season - a 76-86 setback on Wednesday night that snapped their five-game winning run in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
“I don’t know. We’re right in all those games, out of those six (losses), but it’s just in the little plays. They (Tropang Texters) made big shots down the stretch. They made stops. Now, we just have to find a way to win,” said the 6-foot-5 product of George Mason University.
“I lost count (of the loss to Talk ‘N Text) already,” Norwood later intimated to Spin.ph shortly after the rematch between the two protagonists of the last Philippine Cup Finals which the Tropang Texters won via sweep.
Norwood, a mainstay of Gilas Pilipinas team, finished with just five points, but added 10 rebounds, three assists, and a steal in 31 minutes of play against the Tropang Texters.
The No. 1 top pick of the 2008 draft said the “little things” like hustling down on defense and executing well in the endgame are vital in beating a powerhouse squad like Talk ‘N Text.
“We didn’t get beat by 20 or 30 pts. But it’s in the minor things like playing a little bit harder, hustling more on defense. They did a good job sagging on defense against our import. So we just need to get everyone involved (on offense),” noted the 27-year-old guard.
Rain or Shine only had one field goal in the final six minutes, while Talk ‘N Text leaned on the crucial baskets by import Donnell Harvey and Larry Fonacier to escape with the win.
The Elasto Painters try to regain their bearings when they play the Petron Blaze Boosters on Saturday in the PBA Phoenix on Tour road game in Panabo, Davao del Norte.
