SAN Miguel on Wednesday was forced into a srandoff after the Beermen lost Game 4 via blowout to TNT, 110-87, in the PBA 50th Season Philippine Cup Finals.
Recent results, however, have proven that San Miguel has the ability to bounce back from losses in Game Four to win the championship eventually.
Here are some of the times that the Beermen were able to win the championship after losing Game Four. Incidentally, two of which came at the expense of TNT.

2024 COMMISSIONER’S CUP
After winning the first two games of the series, Magnolia was able to even things up with wins in Games Three, 88-80, and Four, 96-85. But San Miguel was able to claim the next two matches of the series.
The Beermen beat the Hotshots, 108-98, in Game Five with Jericho Cruz heating up with 30 points on 8-of-14 from three-point range off the bench.
San Miguel then captured the crown on Valentine’s Day in Game Six with a 104-102 win. Chris Ross nailed a three that gave the Beermen a 100-99 lead, and that was followed by another three from Cruz to help SMB clinch the franchise’s 29th title.

2022 PHILIPPINE CUP
Like this conference, San Miguel and TNT were tied at 2-2 with the Beermen even losing Game Four to the Tropang 5G, 100-87. The Beermen looked headed to being dethroned when they also dropped Game Five, 102-93.
San Miguel though was able to regroup after Game Four. The Beermen won Game Seven, 119-97, behind a 17-0 run in one stretch of the fourth with Chris Ross also putting the nail in the coffin with a three-point shot, prompting a ‘night night’ celebration from the SMB veteran. It was the Beermen’s first Philippine Cup title since 2019.

2017 COMMISSIONER’S CUP
The Beermen were defeated by the KaTropa in Game Four of this finals salvo, but they were able to claim the final two matches to claim the championship.
Alex Cabagnot and Arwind Santos had 28 and 27 points respectively, and import Charles Rhodes had 20 points in San Miguel’s 111-102 win over TNT in Game Five.
The Beermen finished off the KaTropa, 115-91, in Game Six behind Cabagnot registering 19 points, 12 rebounds, and 11 assists to win the Finals MVP honors. Rhodes also contributed 30 points, 11 rebounds, and four blocks in the victory.
