Liam McMorrow has no ax to grind against  Beau Belga despite endgame scuffle

FOR a change, there’s an opponent who understands Beau Belga and his role for Rain or Shine.

Barako Bull import Liam McMorrow acknowledged the Elasto Painters tough enforcer for living up to his role in their PBA Governors’ Cup game on Sunday.

“Lots of players are like that,” the 7-foot-2 Canadian slotman told Spin.ph after the Energy’s 112-103 win. “Every league I play in, there’s always someone who's an agitator, tries to do those little things. That’s fine with me. That’s his job, right? He does a good job at what he does.”

McMorrow was obviously Belga’s target as both players engaged in excessive physical plays, especially down the stretch that resulted in the ROS big man falling down after a rebound battle for a potential free throw miss.

“I got nothing against him; that’s how he plays, right?” McMorrow said. “Those are his antics.”

“I like it,” he added. “I think it’s good for the fans. I think it’s all good as long as he doesn’t try to hurt anyone on purpose.”

McMorrow said it was Belga who started the scuffle following a free throw situation.

“After the free throw, he was holding both my hands,” McMorrow said. “I didn’t really mean to push him or hold him at the end, but it was kind of me trying to get my balance back, because I didn’t want to fall down.”

McMorrow felt the physicality of the entire Elasto Painters team early in the game.

“I had to kind of get adjusted to it (the way they defended me),” said the ever-smiling giant, who only scored his first two points halfway through the first quarter on a short stab. “They weren’t letting me get to the ball at all. I just had to get used to it a little bit.”
