GLOBALPORT management stressed it hasn’t made any move to deal top rookie pick Stanley Pringle amid reports of an impending trade for Ginebra's LA Tenorio after the Kings’ early exit in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup playoffs.
Team manager Bonnie Tan said that as far as he’s concerned, the Fil-Am guard remains a property of the Batang Pier, although he himself has been hearing about the matter the past few days.
“Wala namang pinaguusapan ang management tungkol diyan (Tenorio-Pringle trade),” said Tan when asked by Spin.ph on Tuesday to comment on the trade.
“Ewan ko nga kung saan nanggagaling iyan (trade rumors).”
The trade talk only grew louder following the ouster of Ginebra in the quarterfinals that led to yet another coaching change, with Frankie Lim assuming the reins from Ato Agustin.
It also came at a time when the 28-year-old Pringle departed for the US on Tuesday for an eight-day leave with the Batang Pier.
Tan however, clarified the US trip was a personal matter for the Fil-Am guard, who still attended the team’s practice on Monday.
“Mga eight days lang siya sa US, pero kahapon nag-ensayo pa siya. Siyempre, may pamilya siya dun na mga bibisitahin,” he added.
Pringle’s name has cropped up in trade rumors in recent months.
The cat-quick combo guard, last year’s top rookie pick, averaged 11.8 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 3.1 assists in 29 minutes of action in the mid-season conference.
He failed to play in the team’s last three games in the eliminations due to an ankle sprain.
This developed as Tan disclosed the Batang Pier welcomed back Pido Jarencio as coach when they held practice on Monday.
Jarencio, who was appointed as team consultant late in the Philippine Cup, was reinstalled as head coach and succeeded Eric Gonzales.
Tan said Gonzales reverted back to his original position as first assistant coach.
