THREE Letran players in Jun Roque, Deo Cuajao, and Mark Denver Omega, and Lyceum Alabang’s Angelo Obuyes shone in being the top scorers for their respective teams in Day 1 of the PBA Draft Combine tournament at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Roque, the 23-year-old who is set to play for Letran in the coming NCAA Season 101 after his transfer from Perpetual Help, had 19 points in Meralco’s (Team B-2) 72-66 loss to Magnolia to emerge as the player with most points in the first day of the tournament.
Cuajao, 24, also lit up in that game but for Magnolia as he nailed two threes on his way to finishing with 15 points in the six-point victory.

But Obuyes, a 24-year-old Las Piñas native who already played professional basketball in the Pilipinas Super League, AsiaBasket Malaysia, and National Basketball League-Pilipinas, was the surprise top scorer for the Hotshots in the match-up with 18 points including a four-pointer in Magnolia’s victory.
The 25-year-old Omega also a transferee from Perpetual Help and also slated to see action for Letran in the coming NCAA season, had 16 points in Barangay Ginebra’s (Team A-2) 66-44 win over Blackwater (Team A-1).
Dalph Panopio and Kascius Small-Martin also produced for their respective teams in the Draft Combine.

Panopio had eight points while showing his wares as a point guard in TNT’s (Team D-3) 54-42 win over Terrafirma (Team D-2), while Small-Martin also chipped in 11 points in Magnolia’s win over Meralco.
The Draft Combine tournament resumes on Friday with more highly-touted players seeing action in Geo Chiu, Juan Gomez de Liano, Will Gozum, and Ljay Gonzales for their respective teams.
