LEO Austria is re-assuming his role as San Miguel head coach starting on Friday in the Beermen's match against Terrafirma in the PBA Season 49 Commissioner's Cup at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.

Jorge Gallent, who won a PBA championship last season, will be sliding down to team consultant, Austria's previous role.
The coaching switch was made after an alarming 1-2 start for the Beermen in the mid-season conference, counting a loss to NLEX where they squandered a 19-point deficit last Sunday and a defeat against a young Rain or Shine squad last Tuesday.
Austria captured nine PBA titles for San Miguel under his watch from 2014 to 2022. He was replaced by Gallent, but held a consultant role afterwards.
