IN a rare moment, San Miguel coach Leo Austria refused to give a post-game interview following a game against NorthPort in the PBA Governors Cup on Wednesday night.
Shortly upon emerging from the Beermen’s dugout following the 127-119 loss to the Batang Pier, Austria chatted with deputy Jorge Gallent in the corridor of the Astrodome.
While the two were having a discussion, waiting media men tried to approach Austria to ask him about San Miguel’s second loss in seven games this conference.
Austria politely begged off.
“Huwag na muna. Next time na. Mahirap baka may masabi lang tayo,” the multi-titled coach said with that ready smile on his face.
Asked one last time on what former player Christian Standhardinger told him when the Fil-German approached him shortly after the game, the coach again clammed up.
“I don’t want to complicate matters,” Austria said before excusing himself.
Standhardinger also declined to go into details about the conversation, only saying that his message was conveyed 'very respectfully.'
The game was the first between Standhardinger and his former team since the former was dealt to the Batang Pier last week in a stunning one-on-one trade for Mo Tautuaa.
The top rookie pick of 2017 finished with 18 points, seven rebounds, and three assists in a smashing debut for NorthPort, which hiked its record to 3-4 overall.
