SAN Miguel Beer coach Leo Austria commended his wards for refusing to get rattled after his team got involved in a commotion with TNT KaTropa at the half of Game Three of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals on Sunday night.

SMB officials and players got into a word war with Texters Governors’ Cup import Michael Craig and standby Commissioner’s Cup reinforcement Mike Myers in one play late in the second quarter, leading to a commotion at the hallway as the teams retreated to their respective dugouts.

“Alam naman natin kanina, lahat naglabasan ang intensity ng mga players to the point na magkaroon sila ng kaguluhan doon sa court,” Austria said. “But I told the players na we have to be focused and we don't want to engage in any untoward incident against them dahil we're trying to protect the image of San Miguel Beer.

“Yan ang unang pino-protektahan ng boss namin, especially si Ramon Ang. Ayaw nila ng ganyan,” he added.

When push comes to shove, however, Austria stressed the Beermen will protect themselves.

“We will not back down,” Austria insisted.
