NOT even a cut on LA Tenorio’s left eyebrow could dampen his mood after Barangay Ginebra barged into the win column of the PBA Commissioner’s with a 113-96 rout of GlobalPort on Wednesday night.

With a little over a minute left and the game all but over, the Gin Kings star playmaker suffered a cut after a clash of heads with Batang Pier big man Rico Maierhofer.

“Na head-on niya. Sabi ko patapos na, natamaan pa ako,” Tenorio said. “Pero alam ko namang ‘di niya sinasadya yun. Part of the game.”

“Sana hindi (kailangan i-stitch). Sana sumara,” he added. “Mahaba siya pero ‘di naman malalim. We'll see tomorrow.”

Tenorio was still in a good mood as the Gin Kings atoned for their loss to Phoenix last Saturday as well as a sluggish first half against the Batang Pier, prompting coach Tim Cone to say that his team was still recovering from a “championship hangover.”

“Yun yung feeling niya na meron pa talaga,” Tenorio said. “As a longtime coach, nakikita niya yun eh, may times na ‘di namin nakikita yun, so maybe may championship hangover na sa kagustuhan namin na bumalik agad yung rhythm namin compared sa ibang teams na ilang games na rin naglaro.”

“We really have to take it one game at a time para mabago yung rhythm namin kasi nauna na sila eh,” he added. “Mahaba-haba na yung hahabulin namin but the good thing is, nakuha namin yung unang panalo for us to get back on track.”

Tenorio led the way for the locals, scoring 15 points and dishing out four of the Gin Kings’ 30 assists – 12 more than the Batang Pier had.

“Yun naman yung goal namin, kasi nung nandito si Justin last time, we're averaging 25 assists sa game so malaking bagay sa amin yun na bumalik yung ganung laro namin,” Tenorio said. “We're a team not built on individual talent but more on the chemistry.”
