PAO Javelona found his way to the San Miguel roster with three remaining games in the team’s PBA On Tour schedule.
The 30-year-old guard was tapped by the Beermen owing to a short-handed backcourt in the absence of veterans Chris Ross, Terrence Romeo, and Simon Enciso.
Javelona made his San Miguel debut against TNT in a 111-74 win.
He finished with nine points, three rebounds, and three assists in a performance which coach Jorge Gallent referred to as decent given that Javelona only practiced with the team just once.
Pao Javelona making most of SMB chance
“Lucky for us, Javelona just joined us (Thursday). He played very decent despite practicing only (last Thursday),” said Gallent.
Javelona is the latest point guard taken by the Beermen in the preseason after Marvin Lee and Jayvee Dela Cruz.
And Gallent has nothing but good words for the former National University stalwart.
“He stabilized the team when he was inside, and yun ang kulang namin a little bit,” said the San Miguel coach. “He’s a great addition to us.”
Javelona, who previously played for NorthPort, Terrafirma, and Alab Pilipinas, is the final addition to the San Miguel roster, according to Gallent.
The Beermen, who snapped a five-game skid in the preseason to hike their record to 3-6, will have undefeated Magnolia and Terrafirma for their final two games.
