LARRY Muyang is playing for the Pampanga Giant Lanterns in the MPBL this season, but it turned out the player is still under contract with PBA ballclub Phoenix.
Muyang already has two games with the Giant Lanterns under his belt, including a 35-point outing against Manila on Thursday - or a day before the Fuelmasters opened their PBA Philippine Cup campaign against Terrafirma.

But a Phoenix official made it clear that the Fuelmasters have not released Muyang and he remains under contract with the team until May 31. The 29-year-old is currently in the Phoenix roster on the injured/reserve list.
“He made his decision to do that,” Phoenix team manager Paolo Bugia told SPIN.ph of their No. 7 pick in the 2020 draft. “Kami, we just want to move forward. Ayaw namin ng distractions so we let the PBA handle it.”
Bugia said a letter has been submitted to the PBA informing it of the situation.
“He made a decision. He wanted to play elsewhere. We had our hands full. We want to focus. We don’t want any distractions. We will leave it to the PBA,” said Bugia.
Bugia claimed the 6-foot-6 Muyang left the team after Phoenix discovered that he had played in a ‘ligang labas’ without their permission.
“Last March, he played in an unsanctioned game. We penalized him and then he made his decision,” said Bugia. “Internally, the team penalized him and then he made a decision to go there. We just wanted to move forward."
Muyang played eight games in the last Commissioner’s Cup, averaging 2.9 points and 1.9 rebounds for the Fuelmasters.
