BARANGAY Ginebra’s winning streak was snapped on Friday night, but not LA Tenorio’s own run of longevity.
The Gin Kings star point guard played his 500th straight game on the night his team lost a 16-point lead and a 118-112 decision at the hands of Rain or Shine in their PBA Commissioner’s Cup matchup.
According to chief statistician Fidel Mangonon III, the 32-year-old Tenorio hasn’t missed a game since San Miguel Beer took him with the fourth overall pick in the 2006 rookie draft.
The streak of consecutive games is now at 500 - and still rolling.
Tenorio, though, was the missing link on Friday night when the Gin Kings' saw their five-game win run come to an end as he scored just four points on 2-of-9 shooting, missing all his four three-point attempts, although adding three boards, three assists in almost 34 minutes.
Justin Brownlee shouldered most of the offense with 38 points, while Joe Devance and Japeth Aguilar provided the most support among the locals.
