Defiant LA Tenorio assures Ginebra's 'worst game' won't happen again

AFTER a horrific Game Four performance, there’s nowhere to go but up for Ginebra.

That’s what a defiant LA Tenorio drove home as he huddled his teammates at center court after the 72-101 shellacking the Gin Kings got from San Miguel on Sunday that set the stage for a do-or-die showdown for a place in the PBA Governors Cup Finals.

“We made sure na after this game, we move forward and look forward to the next game,” Tenorio said. “It's over and done with. Nangyari na. We played our worst game this series so I don't think it will happen again next game.”

“So we just have to be ready and stay focused next game,” he added. “Yun lang yung reminders sa bawa't isa doon sa huddle na ginawa namin sa gitna na we put away this game and focus on the next game. Go home, we eat, we sleep, and we prepare for our game on Tuesday.”

While the Beermen broke away in the second quarter behind Marcio Lassiter, Tenorio felt the Gin Kings were doomed right in the first period.

“Actually simula pa lang ng game, doon pa lang wala na kaming concentration sa defensive rules namin,” the veteran point guard said. “Yun nga, uminit si Marcio tapos nagkaroon na rin ng kumpiyansa ibang teammates nya. Mahirap talunin San Miguel kapag ganyan. Kahit sino sigurong team maglaro kanina against San Miguel walang tatalo sa kanila kanina.”

But that's in the past, Tenorio insisted, and do-or-die Tuesday is another.

“Again, it's over and done with and we just have to focus on our next game and we expect na yung lalaruin nila better than today, kami kailangan ganoon din,” he added. “Kailangan yung laro namin hindi katulad nung ngayon.”’

Tenorio also expressed his gratitude to the over 22,000 people who came in attendance at the Big Dome and never left until the game ended.

“As always, lagi naman naming naa-appreciate na kahit hindi natatapos yung buzzer nandyan sila,” Tenorio said. “Win or lose, especially when were losing, nandyan sila parati. Tulad nga ng sinabi ko last time, I expected na big crowd today, yun nga lang, unfortunately, hindi siguro nila ine-expect na ganoon ang lalaruin namin.”
