BARANGAY Ginebra is out to close out TNT in Game 6 of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals, but it needs not go too far back to know how tough a match it is to win.
In the 2024 Philippine Cup semifinals last season, the Gin Kings already held a 3-2 lead against Meralco only to fall short of advancing to the finals after the Bolts won the final two games, capped by a 78-69 win at the FPJ Arena in San Jose, Batangas.
LA warning
LA Tenorio is aware of how difficult of a situation they are still in, but find comfort in knowing that they have been here before.
“Close-out games are really the hardest part of the series especially against a team like Talk ‘N Text. Depensahan eh,” said Tenorio. “We’ve been in this situation before sa ibang series against Meralco. We lost twice. Alam namin ‘yung feeling.”
Barangay Ginebra is on the cusp of a championship after defeating TNT in Game 5, 73-66, and Tenorio said their experience in the Meralco series will be reminder not to relax in Game 6 against a TNT squad that is battling for dear life.
“And the good news is alam namin ‘yung feeling na 3-2 kami at talunin kami ng dalawang beses. Alam namin kung ano ang kailangan naming gawin going into Game 6,” said the 40-year-old Tenorio.
“Game 6 will be our Game 7 definitely. ‘Yun lang ‘yung kailangan naming mentality going to practice,” he added.
