LA Tenorio has played with different imports in the PBA in his 12-year career, but there is simply no one who compares to Justin Brownlee.

Brownlee was once again marvelous for Ginebra in Game One of the PBA Commissioner’s Cup finals when he scored 42 points, on their way to a lopsided 127-99 win over San Miguel.

The Game One performance was another reason for Tenorio to hail Brownlee as the best he has played with in his career.

“For me, he is the best import na nakasama ko talaga sa buong career ko sa PBA,” said Tenorio, the former Ateneo guard who had previously played for the San Miguel and Alaska franchises.

Brownlee was on fire for the Kings in Game One, making all but two of his 19 shots from the field. A few of Brownlee’s baskets were off Tenorio’s feeds, with the Barangay Ginebra point guard finishing with eight assists in the runaway win in the series opener.

It was also Brownlee’s second 40-point game in the Commissioner’s Cup playoffs.

Barangay Ginebra coach Tim Cone said Brownlee has been giving the Kings a timely lift during their playoff run especially in their semifinal series against Rain or Shine.

In Game Three of that series, Brownlee had 44 points and that was against Gabe Norwood, the top defender of Rain or Shine and, perhaps in the league.

“It seems like that way all the time,” Cone said. “We get a tremendous lift from Justin. In the last series against Rain or Shine, they had Gabe Norwood guarding him the whole time, and Gabe is an outstanding defensive player. He's been the stopper all the way through the national team, all the way in the Gilas games, he's the No. 1 stopper.

“Justin was able to put up 44 points against Rain or Shine, and that's amazing. It just goes to show how tough he is to guard. It's really hard,” said Brownlee.

More than his play, Tenorio said Brownlee is a complete package not just on the court but also off it.

“I can't say anything more kay Justin. Obvious naman, kita niyo naman kung paano siya. On and off the court, walang masasabi kay Justin. For me, he's the best import na nakasama ko sa buong career ko sa PBA,” said Tenorio.
