ANTIPOLO CITY – It was a matter of Alaska doing everything right and Barangay Ginebra doing everything wrong.
LA Tenorio saw it that way as the Kings suffered their worst loss in the PBA Philippine Cup Sunday after they were blew away by the hot-shooting Aces, 104-78, at the Ynares Center.
Simon Enciso punched in 23 points and Chris Banchero added 20 for Alaska, which shot 50 percent from the field behind a 44-of-87 shooting.
“Lahat ng nakita ninyong ginawa ng Alaska, kabaligtaran ng ginawa namin,” he said.
“Masyadong sharp yung Alaska today. They came out really aggressive and they were prepared for this game,” said the veteran Ginebra playmaker. “And kami naman coming off a three-week na pahinga, medyo nabaon din.”
Excuses of course, is farthest from the mind of Tenorio.
“Probably offensively puwedeng maging excuse na wala ka sa rhythm. Pero I think defensively hindi ka naman dapat mawala sa rhythm sa depensa. So yun ang naging problem naman in today’s game.”
Tenorio himself struggled from the field. He did finish with 11 points, five rebounds, and four assists but was only 4-of-11 from the floor.
After Alaska, Barangay Ginebra won’t have another game until one week from now when it goes up against league-leader Phoenix.
Tenorio is again concerned about the Kings struggling to get their rhythm going after another week-long break.
“Pahinga na naman. But wala, that’s how it is. That’s beyond our control. We just have to be ready every game talaga. We cannot afford to get the rhythm sa game, kailangan sa practice pa lang makuha na namin yun,” he stressed
