LA TENORIO has been activated from the Barangay Ginebra roster, paving the way for his return on Sunday in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup.
Tenorio has taken a spot in the active roster, replacing Aljon Mariano, who was relegated to the team’s unrestricted free agent with rights to receive salary (UFAWR2RS) list.
With the move, Tenorio is eligible to play for Ginebra’s next game against Terrafirma, possibly his first appearance on the court since recovering from colon cancer last September.
The 39-year-old hasn’t played since February 19, several weeks before Tenorio revealed that he has cancer. His last game was against Blackwater where he scored eight points and hauled two rebounds in nearly 15 minutes of play during last season’s Governors’ Cup.
Prior to his return, Tenorio was listed as assistant coach during Gilas Pilipinas’ gold-medal triumph in the Asian Games in Hangzhou, China, and has also been sitting on the Ginebra bench to help out with its PBA campaign.
As for Mariano, he has yet to play for Ginebra this season, but has been showing up in the games in street clothes.
