LA Revilla showed how valuable he is to Mahindra after providing the leadership in their 97-88 win over Blackwater in the PBA Governors’ Cup on Sunday night.
After missing the last two games – both losses – due to a broken nose, the pint-sized, big-hearted playmaker returned with a black mask and left a huge imprint as the Enforcer got back on track with their fifth win in seven games.
“Having LA back really just boosted our stability on offense,” Mahindra coach Chris Gavina said. “He's really an outright floor leader; he's a general out there.”
Revilla may have wound up scoreless after missing all his four shots, but the third-year pro dished out 10 key assists in 22 minutes of play.
Gavina cited one timeout where he didn’t even ask his fellow assistants what they were seeing and instead went straight to Revilla for his thoughts.
“LA is an extension of me as well as our coaching staff, so it's great to have him back,” the rookie coach said.
