LA Revilla looked every inch like a man inspired in Phoenix Pulse's match against Columbian Dyip on Wednesday night.
And why not?
Playing in his first game since getting engaged to volleyball star Denden Lazaro, Revilla scored 12 points, issued seven assists, and grabbed four rebounds in a 108-98 win over Dyip - the Fuel Masters' third in a row in the Philippine Cup.
The diminutive guard declined to reveal much about the upcoming wedding, but was game enough to reveal his extra motivation.
“Dagdag inspiration? Oo, kasi gagastos ako after one year, papakasal kami eh, kailangan kumita,” the former La Salle Green Arches guard with a smile.
Turning serious, Revilla warned Phoenix about getting complacent after the 3-0 start, reminding teammates that they blew a twice-to-beat advantage over the Meralco Bolts in the Governors Cup quarterfinals last season.
"Hindi naman namin mapa-promise na, you know, 11-0. Hindi naman ‘yun ‘yung goal namin. As much as possible one game at a time pa rin," said Revilla,
“Last conference nga twice-to-beat kami pero natalo pa rin kami," he added. "I think yung growth as a team 'yung pinaka-importante.”
