MAHINDRA is seemingly turning import-laced conferences into their pet conferences in the PBA.

After coming off a disappointing Philippine Cup where they finished second to last, the Enforcers are off to a solid start to the midseason tournament with a 3-1 win-loss record and are poised for a playoff run this time.

The sophomore squad was on the same path as in the 2015 Governors’ Cup, where the team, led by Hamady N’Diaye and Jet Chang, wound up with a 5-6 win-loss card and barely missed the playoffs.

Asked what has been the difference in import-loaded conferences, LA Revilla admitted it has been that: the imports who have been spelling the biggest difference.

“Honestly siguro, malaking tulong talaga pag may import,” the Enforcers’ star point guard said. “Kasi 'yun yung whole talaga namin eh. Wala talaga kaming inside presence like a dominant force that could lift the team (pag sa all-Filipino conference).”

Having an import, this time Augustus Gilchrist, inspires the locals to excel even more.

“If you get an import, iba yung skill level at mental capacity niya and we try to mix with that and use it for the betterment of the team,” said Revilla, one of six Enforcers in double figures in scoring in the team’s 106-99 win over NLEX on Friday.

Revilla, who finished with 10 points and hit the clutch baskets in the victory, is hoping the Enforcers can get over the hump this time after falling short in the Governors’ Cup.

“Yeah (tumaas na), especially expectations sa sarili namin at sa team,” the former La Salle star admitted.

“Siguro, we’ll just maximize every game,” he admitted. “Kung ano yung makakaya namin, we just always want to win every game, so kung may pagkakataon, we’ll just get it.”
