KYLES Lao is ready to seize the opportunity as he finally gets his long-awaited chance in the PBA.
NLEX has activated the rookie out of University of the Philippines following the season-ending ACL injury suffered by Kevin Alas over the weekend.
"I’m up to the challenge. I know it’s a big shoe to fill but I’ll do my best to be able to contribute," he said.
Lao, picked in the third round at 29th overall in the 2018 PBA Rookie Draft, shared the gloom over the injury that ended Alas' season.
"Part of me is sad because Kevin suffered the same injury," said Lao, who also had an ACL tear back in his collegiate days with the Fighting Maroons.
But he knows that in a team like NLEX, he has no other option but to make the most of his chances as he aims to contribute to the team's cause this 2019 PBA Philippine Cup.
"For coach Yeng to give me an opportunity, of course I’m happy to be activated. I think it’s a blessing in disguise for me," he said.
Lao is set for his season debut on Friday when the Road Warriors face Phoenix at Mall of Asia Arena.
