PBA Commissioner Willie Marcial confirmed that Zamboanga Valientes and Universal Canning Inc. are two of the firms that sent a Letter of Intent (LOI) to join Asia’s pioneering pro league.
Marcial made the admission after Valientes team owner Junnie Navarro disclosed that it is currently in serious talks to acquire the PBA franchise of Terrafirma.
“Sila (Valientes) yung isa sa nagbigay ng Letter of Intent,” said Marcial Wednesday at halftime of the Barangay Ginebra-Northport PBA Philippine Cup game at Philsports Arena.
“Sila rin (UCI) nag-submit ng Letter of Intent.”
Marcial earlier said at least three new firms are currently knocking at the PBA door, two of which have already submitted their respective LOI, although the commissioner withheld the name of the interested parties.

The league chief added negotiations between Terrafirma and the Valientes are now rolling, including the requirements needed for incoming new franchises.
“Kung ano yung natural na hinihingi nating requirements sa mga team, hiningan ko sila (Valientes). Ang sabi niya (Junnie Navarro) kung puwede pag tapos na ng election kasi tumatakbo siya,” added Marcial of the Valientes owner, who is running for councilor in the second district of Zamboanga.
