Barako Bull embraces small-ball identity as Ronald Pascual joins already crowded rotation

BARAKO Bull can’t seem to get enough of guards and wingmen.

Energy coach Koy Banal welcomed another wingman in Ronald Pascual, who was acquired from San Miguel Beer in a trade for Ryan Araña.

“He’s a welcome addition,” Banal said of Pascual. “That only means that we will have a great shooter, a slasher. He knows his basketball and his basketball will definitely help the team to achieve our goal.”

The former San Sebastian gunner joins an already crowded wing/guard rotation that has playmakers RR Garcia, Jeric Fortuna, Emman Monfort, Josh Urbiztondo, and Jens Knuttel, as well as wings Chico Lanete, Dylan Ababou, James Forrester, and Paul Sorongon.

And Banal, who has installed a small-ball system, is continuing to embrace the team's new identity.

“Kung meron kaming ganito ka-daming guwardiya, yun na siguro ang dapat naming ayusin,” Banal said. “We just have to maximize our talent.”

Banal expects Pascual to report for duty on Tuesday when the Energy return to practice after a trip in Anilao over the weekend.
