EVEN after going down to 1-3 in the preseason, Barako Bull wingman JC Intal believes the team is progressing in its preparation for the PBA's 40th season.
The Energy dropped a 73-78 decision to the visiting Jeonju KCC Egis on Monday at the Gatorade Hoops Center.
Barako Bull coach Siot Tanquingcen used all 17 of his players against the five-time Korean Basketball League champion.
“They are all quick saka grabe ang pressure nila sa offense namin,” said Intal, who scored eight points.
The 6-foot-3 forward, who goes by the moniker "Baby Rocket", noted that KCC's perimeter gunners kept them active on their perimeter defense, an aspect they need to improve on for next season.
"I think so far, so good naman. Parang Fiba din ang laro kasi we switch on defense a lot, but it's good for us," he added.
KCC, which is using its Manila trip to prepare for the KBL, bounced back after bowing to Alaska, 94-89,on Saturday. The Koreans next face PBA grand slam champion San Mig Super Coffee on Tuesday.
The Energy have more training matches lined up before the Oct. 19 season opener.
They leave for Tacloban on Wednesday to play a PBA D-League team and Ginebra before going to Cebu to play against a local selection.
The Energy lost their first two games against the Changwon LG Sakers and Qatar national team, before beating Kuwait more than a week ago.
