Knee injury no longer a concern as San Mig balik-import Bowles cleared by docs

    Feb 18, 2013

SAN Mig Coffee board representative Rene Pardo has guaranteed that import Denzel Bowles is 100 percent healthy.

Last year’s Best Import winner arrived in the country over the weekend and has handed over to Pardo the medical clearance that his injured knee is no longer a concern.

“Tiyak ko masisiyahan ang San Mig Coffee (Mixers Planet fans),” said Pardo after having personally seen Bowles in practice with the rest of the team.

Prior to coming over, Bowles' knee injury has been a main concern for the team, according to Pardo, which the wide-bodied import sustained while playing for the Zhejiang Golden Bulls in the Chinese Basketball League.

The injury obviously limited Bowles to an off-and-on stint in the CBA and he had to go back to the US to have his knee checked.

“Yun talaga ang worry namin, yung injury niya sa tuhod,” Pardo admitted.

“Pero he was agile and mobile sa practice kahapon, mabilis pa rin. So walang dapat ipangamba ang fans, he is 100 percent.”

Meanwhile, the ever amiable San Mig team official shared to Spin.ph how the Mixers are elated at the diligence Bowles has been showing from the time he arrived on Sunday.

“Dumating siya kahapon ng umaga, ini-excuse na siya ni Tim (Cone) na huwag nang sumali sa 7-9 a.m practice namin,” bared Pardo. “Pero talagang nagpumilit pa ring mag practice. Nami-miss daw niya kasi `yung team kaya ayaw na muna niya magpahinga.

“Kaya masayang-masaya at nabuhayan ng loob `yung mga locals... hopefully this (change) is for the better... we’ll see on Friday.”

Coming in as replacement for Matt Rogers, Bowles won’t be suiting up for the defending champions Mixers until Friday when they take on Philippine Cup semifinals tormentor Rain or Shine Elasto Painters.

The Mixers are in an unfamiliar spot in the team standings having lost their first two games in the PBA Commissioners Cup to remain as one of only two teams, along with Ginebra, still to make the win column.
